First Responder Training: Response to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
The Illinois Fire Service Institute is offering an Alternative Fuel Vehicles Training Course for first responders. This FREE course introduces the concepts and hazards of hybrid and electric vehicles. Course topics include feature and hazard identification, methods of extinguishment, extrication adaptations, and post incident tactics. Instructors will provide a comprehensive overview of this evolving technology to ensure students are prepared for the response scene.

Students will have the opportunity to explore electric vehicles up close at the Illinois Alliance for Clean Transportation’s Green Drives Conference and Expo. The Green Drives Conference and Expo will take place on May 14 at Danada House, conveniently located across the street from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Headquarters, where the First Responder Training will be held. The expo will feature a diverse range of vehicles, giving students the chance to observe them firsthand and ask questions.
